Indian Horse (Featuring: Director Stephen Campanelli) - Rant #30

Hello Rantaineers and fellow Film Lovers alike! Hope you are well and ready for this very special episode! This week we discuss the Stephen Campanelli film Indian Horse. We were also privileged to talk with Stephen about his film, and how he came to create Richard Wagamese book for the big screen. You might also notice the shows format is a bit more serious, and this is meant to be respectful of the subject matter we discuss on this episode. We also just wanted to take a second say thank you. Yes you! The listener! for helping us make this show what it is, and feel so rewarding. We’ve come a long way in just under a year of starting this, and we’ve been able to collaborate with so many wonderful people, with so many of those individual perspectives and stories that come forth through the many films we’ve gotten to talk about on the show. We hope to continue to grow on our adventures ahead, and look forward to having you joining us on this ride through your continuing support!

Next week's episode we will be discussing Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris film Little Miss Sunshine. - "A real loser is someone who's so afraid of not winning he doesn't even try."

We Make Couples - Rant #23

Hello Rantaineers and other fellow Film Lovers! This is a special bonus episode that has been in the works for a while now! Amy, friend of the show and fellow co-worker of Breandan, is on the show on this special episode! Very exciting! Amy asked The Reel Rant Crew if we could do a promotional piece for a screening she will be hosting at the University of Victoria (On April 15th 2018, 9pm at Cinacenta) of the Canadian Avant-garde film We Make Couples by Mike Hoolboom. How could we say no? If you aren't local to our area, or can't make it to the screening of this film, have a listen anyways! Why do you ask? Because we get talking about a lot of other things, especially about relationships! Over the last couple episodes we've been on this topic of relationships, and this film truly brings this important topic of discussion and just takes off. So yeah! Even if you haven't seen this film it's still a wonderful conversation we got to have on the show. Plus Breandan really opens up on this one! Big time! Hahaha! Enjoy the show!

Fantastic Mr. Fox - Rant #17

Hello Rantaineers! We've got a FANTASTIC show for you this week! Super fan Kieran (Click here for Instagram link) is on the show this week. We found him peeking around our windows during a couple recordings in the in the past, so we decided to let him in and put a microphone in front of his face, and see what he would say. Turns out he had a lot to say...with his pick for film of the week Fantastic Mr. Fox! We've been getting really serious on the podcast the last few weeks, and we felt this one was a nice little break from all that jazz. We had a great time with this one. Enjoy!

Saving Private Ryan - Rant #16

Hello Rantaineers! This week on the Podcast we have the "Legendary Actor Dude Guy" Nolan, with his film of the week choice Saving Private Ryan. Nolan in his spare time reads text books about the World War's, and galavanting around on a stage shouting lines at an audience, or some may say innocent by standers. This episode is full of personality, but it also gets quite serious at points. Films, or shows, we discussed on the podcast this week were Fred Armisen: Standup For Drummers, Ingrid Goes West, Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and The Cloverfield Paradox. Hope you enjoy!

Side Note: We mention the term "Space Opera" in this episode a couple times. Click "Here" for more information or context of what we were trying to get at in this episode.

Next week's episode we will be dicussing Wes Anderson's film Fantastic Mr. Fox. - "Here, put this bandit hat on."

Pickups - Rant #15

Hello Rantaineers! So We know we said this bonus episode wouldn't come out for a bit, but we lied. We hope you can forgive us! Anyways...The Reel Rant Crew and special guest Matt Herring (Twitter Link - Instagram Link) received the opportunity to go to the Victoria Film Festival this year to see Jamie Thraves, Phil Bowman, and Aidan Gillen's film Pickups (Trailer Link). We were also able to speak to these gentlemen after the film concluded. We discuss the film at great lengths in this one, and we would hate to ruin that discussion in this little summary write up! So just listen with those ears and enjoy our Reel Rant!

- Special thanks to the Victoria Film Festival and The Martlet for helping us make this episode happen!

Also don't forget about next week's episode where we discuss Steven Spielberg's film Saving Private Ryan. - "James, earn this..."

Logan Lucky - Rant #14

Hello Rantaineers! Welcome back to another week of film and entertainment discussions! Woot! Woot! This week we have the very talented, and old soul, Allegra (Twitter Link, Twitch Link, Facebook Link, Instagram Link). "Legzz" as we like to call her, spends her free time pretending to be old to add a level of maturity to her overbearing nerdy bravado. She thinks she's got us fooled, but she does not! Legzz film choice this week is Logan Lucky, or the southern version of Ocean's 11. We get into a bit of a discussion about the differences between the show Vikings and Game of Thrones, which then leads into a conversation of between the differences of The Walking Dead TV show and the comic book. We mention the upcoming HBO Watchmen Series and the early reception of Marvel's Black Panther film. Other films and tv shows we discussed were Grace and Franky, Sing Street, and (Breandan's newer favourite film) A Ghost Story! Hope you enjoy the show.

Side Note: For those that are Local to Victoria, B.C., The Reel Rant crew are headed to the Victoria Film Festival to see Jamie Thraves film starring Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger from Game of Thrones) Pickups. We will also be present for the Q&A after the screening to get a better insight into the making of the film with Jamie and Aidan. So that means there will be a special episode out for that, so stay tuned!

Next week's episode we discuss Steven Spielberg's film Saving Private Ryan. - "James, earn this..."

Lucky Number Slevin - Rant #13

Hello Rantaineers! Welcome back to another episode of some good ol'fashion movie talk, and other jazzy stuff going on in the entertainment world! This is a pretty epic episode for sure! We have stepped up the production a bit with a couple noticeable changes that we know you'll dig. This week we are talking with Matt Herring (Matt's Twitter Link - Instagram Link)...AGAIN...He wondered back into our Bat Cave Recording Studio (A.K.A our Living room/ Dining room) and we kinda just let him be on the show this week because we felt bad for him. We joke! Matt Herring the other bearded sexy boi is back and has chosen the film Lucky Number Slevin to talk about! We also talk 90th Oscar Noms, Universals Dark Universe update, and the next film project of Lord of the Rings famed Director Peter Jackson. Some films and shows we discuss on the show this week are Gerald's Game, Phantom Thread, Dunkirk, The Handmaid's Tale, The Alienist, and Runaways. Thats pretty much it! Enjoy!

Next week's episode we discuss Steven Soderbergh's film Logan Lucky! - "I know all the Twitters!"
