Lucky Number Slevin - Rant #13

Hello Rantaineers! Welcome back to another episode of some good ol'fashion movie talk, and other jazzy stuff going on in the entertainment world! This is a pretty epic episode for sure! We have stepped up the production a bit with a couple noticeable changes that we know you'll dig. This week we are talking with Matt Herring (Matt's Twitter Link - Instagram Link)...AGAIN...He wondered back into our Bat Cave Recording Studio (A.K.A our Living room/ Dining room) and we kinda just let him be on the show this week because we felt bad for him. We joke! Matt Herring the other bearded sexy boi is back and has chosen the film Lucky Number Slevin to talk about! We also talk 90th Oscar Noms, Universals Dark Universe update, and the next film project of Lord of the Rings famed Director Peter Jackson. Some films and shows we discuss on the show this week are Gerald's Game, Phantom Thread, Dunkirk, The Handmaid's Tale, The Alienist, and Runaways. Thats pretty much it! Enjoy!

Next week's episode we discuss Steven Soderbergh's film Logan Lucky! - "I know all the Twitters!"

Snatch - Rant #12

Hello Rantaineers! We have a special episode for you this week! Not that any of the other episodes aren't special. This one you might say is chill. Like "chill" as in cool. Just a couple of cool dudes talking into microphones! Well two cool dudes including the guest, because unfortunately the illustrious sexy boi Corey McEwen couldn't make it this week. So that means it's just Breandan and his big brother Ben a.k.a. Big Ben (like the clock from that place where everyone talks a bit fancy).  Ben spends his spare time traveling the world and pointing at buildings that look cool, finding inspiration from them, and then creating his own design out of Lego and a hot glue gun. He's a trained Architect basically is what we are trying to say. He's kind of a "big" deal (hence the name Big Ben). He owns quite a few leather bound books lets just say. If you're still reading this and wondering why this write up is so elaborate, it's due to the fact we really only talk about Big Ben's film pick this week Snatch. That's it. We wanted to meet a similar paragraph length as we do most weeks. You know? Keep things consistent. Think this should be good though. Enjoy the show!

Next week's episode we discuss Paul McGuigan film Lucky Number Slevinwith our guest Matt Herring!

The Prestige - Rant #10

Hello Rantaineers! Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday! This week on the show we have our friend, who works first hand in the film business, Sarah Ayer! Her film pick this week (as you probably have read already) is The Prestige. Aside from the film of the week we get into a conversation of post holiday stuff (like Corey's Wizard staff *click for image*), and films and shows we watched over the holiday season. We mention shows like Peaky Blinders and Dark, which we can't recommend more. We also discuss films Like The Florida Project, Bright, and Phantom Thread. Finally, we "Rant" about the studio system and it's relationships with writers these days. It's a good one this week for sure! Enjoy!

Next week's episode is Burn After Reading! One of our favourites over here at The Reel Rant!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi - SPOILERCAST

Hello Rantaineers! So we did it! We went and saw it, and.....if you listen to this episode you'll hear what we thought! Unfortunately, our Illustrious Sexy Boi, Co-Host Ranter, Corey McEwen couldn't make it this time. In his place we have two guest! Say what? Yep! Back by popular demand we've got Zack (The dude from our Casablanca episode). We also have Graeme, who is on the Star Wars: A New Hope episode (Which will be released the same day this one will be. So if you don't know him yet, have a listen to that episode if you want to.). It's a special episode for sure! We cover a lot of the stuff you might also be pondering after watching the newest Star Wars film.  Hope you enjoy!

The Green Mile - Rant #6

Hello Rantaineers! We are back this week with a feely feels episode with our friend, the legendary sexy Brooklyn boi, Colin. He likes to make coffee in his spare time with the shows Host Ranter, Breandan. Thats all he likes to do. He has no hobbies. He just values, above all else, his relationship with Breandan, and makin those sweet, sweet, cups of joe with his boi! This week, Colin has chosen The Green Mile. Great film with lots of feels, as previously stated, but it's warranted to say this again. We get really into metaphors this episode in relation to this weeks flick! We also get a bit into are thoughts on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and how all thats going. We discuss the upcoming film Bohemian Rhapsody, and stuff going down with the making of it. We bring up Quentin Tarantino again...He's making a new Star Trek film...As far as we have come to understand. Finally, we talk a little bit about the other upcoming film You Were Never Really Here, starring...Joaquin Phoenix. He was in The Master...Just in case you forgot. Breandan really likes this film. Hope you enjoy the show this week!

Next week's episode we will be discussing Star Wars: A New Hope. Corey and Breandan got early tickets to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi, so there will be a **SPOILER FREE** discussion of that as well.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Rant #3

This week on The Reel Rant Corey and Breandan open up the gates to the great British Invasion! She is here finally to cash checks, break necks, and offer a psychological aspect to film! The infamous "Brit with the Wits", and Breandan's better half! Carmen! Usually we are a couple of goofy dudes, this week we still are but you get to hear a more emotional side to us with Carmen's pick this week Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. So in a way you could say we talk about how the "Reel stuff" relates to the "Real stuff"...You get it? We also talk about Breandan's guilty pleasure film The Master...again. Unfortunatly our tattoo's are still healing so will upload a picture next week for you all to see. But that is pretty much it for this week. Just have a listen!

Constantine (2005) - Rant #2

On this episode of The Reel Rant we rant about our first comic book movie of the show, 2005's Constantine. Starring Neo from the Matrix and the Mum from The Mummy movies...Rachel Weisz. Oh yeah, and we have a Guest. His name is Matt Herring, and he has a beard, and he dreams of a day where we can get fat and boring, and live in a virtual reality. Just kidding. Maybe? You be the judge. We also bring up some specific beef we have with the Studio System these days, and mention a podcast we stole a segment from and that inspired us to start this podcast. The Weekly Planet. Oh, and we ask why Matt picked this film.

On next week's episode we Rant about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - Rant #1

Breandan McGhee and Corey McEwen welcome listeners, big ears and small, to The Reel Rant Podcast with the launch of the show we wanted to pick a film to Rant/Talk about that was near and dear to our hearts, and hopefully close to yours. We also discuss a little about ourselves, the show and what we hope to give to you the listeners in the many episodes to come. Note for next week: If you can get your hands on a copy, next episode will be on 2005s Constantine...Please know this was a guest pick, and an explanation behind this maniacal behaviour will be given.
